When to See a Lactation Consultant

  •  Latch Issues: If your baby struggles to latch onto the breast properly, causing discomfort or pain.
  •  Low Milk Supply: If you suspect you're not producing enough milk to meet your baby's needs.
  •  Painful Breastfeeding: If you're experiencing persistent pain or discomfort during breastfeeding.
  •  Engorgement: When your breasts are overly full and tender, a lactation consultant can provide guidance.
  •  Nipple Issues: If you have cracked, bleeding, or inverted nipples, seeking support is crucial.
  •  Concerns about Weight Gain: If your baby is not gaining weight as expected, consulting a lactation expert can help identify and address the issue.
  •  Feeding Frequency Concerns: If your baby is not feeding frequently enough or is feeding excessively, it's worth seeking advice.
  •  Mastitis or Clogged Ducts: If you experience symptoms of mastitis (breast infection) or clogged ducts, a lactation consultant can offer assistance.
  •  Returning to Work: If you're planning to return to work and need guidance on expressing and storing breast milk.
  •  Weaning Questions: If you have questions about introducing solid foods or weaning your baby from breastfeeding.
  • Feeding a premature baby
