  Virtual Consults for Breastfeeding & Bottle Feeding Help Includes:

•  Latch and positioning assistance to improve painful latch and nipple damage.
•  Weaning from nipple shield
•  Addressing oversupply or low milk supply
•  Assistance with gassy, fussy baby.
•  Bottle refusal support and tips.
•  Exclusively pumping and bottling,  & return to work pumping schedules.
•  Weaning from breastfeeding and/or pumping.

Virtual visits are not recommended or appropriate for all situations, and may require in-person follow up. If you’d like to make sure that your appointment is appropriate for a virtual visit please contact me before booking.

Situations that are best addressed in-person includes:

• Babies who are losing weight or not gaining weight well and need to have a weighted feed to assess for milk transfer.
• Someone who is having  challenges with latching their baby at the breast or needs an observed breastfeeding  for reassurance and management of the baby's breastfeeding behaviour.
• If you are experiencing severe pain which may include nipple trauma, bleeding, cracking, severe to moderate engorgement, plugged ducts and or mastitis, low or no milk production that is impacting baby's growth, weight gain and development or significant oversupply.
• For any breastfeeding challenges that may be  related to an anatomical issue with the baby (lip and/or tongue tie, high palate, etc.) or mom (implants or reduction, inverted nipples, etc. 

We will evaluate you and your baby, teach you correct latch techniques, discuss pain relieving and healing strategies and make referrals as necessary.

All initial consults include a follow-up call or email.

We offer both virtual and in-home follow-up visits for existing clients. This may include:

• Assessing the baby's latch, checking for proper weight gain, addressing any breastfeeding challenges, and providing guidance on feeding frequency, duration and technique.
• Weaning assistance for supplemental nursing systems  (lactation aid).
  transitioning a baby from using a nipple shield to breastfeeding directly without it.
• Providing ongoing support and education for breastfeeding mothers. It's an opportunity to troubleshoot issues and ensure a positive breastfeeding experience.
• Exclusive pumping and bottling support.
• Follow-up on oral motor issues such as tongue-tie and lip tie challenges.
• All of your breastfeeding & lactation concerns.

Our Prenatal services at Breastfeeds Plus provide you with a wealth of information and guidance  needed:

• If you want to be as prepared as possible to breastfeed as you go into labour and birth your baby.
• If you've never breastfed before and are planning to but there's a lot of unknowns or questions for you.
• If you had a difficult or challenging first experience or your first breastfeeding journey didn't unfold how you imagined and you'd like this next time around to be different.
• To help you achieve your breastfeeding goals, discuss supplies needed at home and hospital, and to get you the very best start needed!
